Heavy Metal Band TesseracT Launches War Of Being on Steam Today

TesseracT War Of Being

Heavy metal band TesseracT has entered bold new ground today, releasing its very own sci-fi adventure on Steam.

War Of Being is based on the music and concept of the band’s upcoming album of the same name. Playable in VR and also flat, it invites players to enter The Strangeland, a place composed of 6 surreal and highly stylised environments. But there’s more than just sightseeing to be done; as well as meeting a range of unusual characters, there are also puzzles to be solved.

For fans of the band, War Of Being is likely to prove to be a bit of a treat. You see, the gameplay is backed up by a soundtrack composed by TesseracT – music from their titular new album, in fact. By locating statues of the band’s members, they can also discover more about them. As well as being a bona-fide game, then, War Of Being offers a sneak peak into the band itself and its future work.

Created using Unreal Engine 5, War Of Being comes from the mind of Daniel Tompkins, lead singer of TesseracT. “Gaming has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember” he states, “From the Sega Master System / Mega Drive and SNES days through to modern day console and PC gaming, I’ve always found escapism and inspiration by diving into hundreds of titles.”

Of course, Daniel hasn’t developed the single-player title himself, though. While Daniel is Lead Director and Designer on the project, he’s backed up by Kirsty Harvey, who is the Creative Designer and 3D Artist, and Adam Boyt, who’s on development duties. The title is available on Steam now thanks to early access, and the plan is to launch a Kickstarter to aid further development. More levels, lore and narrative are planned to be added as the game nears its 1.0 launch.

The early access version of War Of Being is available now, at the very reasonable price of just £4.99. You can check it out on Steam here, or you can visit the band’s website for more information. A trailer for the game can be viewed below.
