1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Shredder's Revenge (1)

  • Available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC

Shredder’s Revenge is the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game ever released. It’s as simple as that. This side-scrolling beat ’em up, available on pretty much every current format, is an absolute treat, letting players pummel their way through a number of stages as any of the turtles and also as some of their friends.

Both campaign and arcade modes are available, with the former having side quests to complete and more. An expansion is on the way that sets to add more playable characters, too, as well as a survival mode that should add to the game’s longevity. Needless to say, with its glorious pixel art, enjoyable soundtrack is great, and infectious gameplay, this is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game you need to own if you’re fan.

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutants in Manhattan

  • Available on PS4 and Xbox One

Developed by PlatinumGames, you won’t find Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan on any digital storefronts, unfortunately. Due to licencing, it was pulled in less than a year, meaning now you can only play it by grabbing a physical copy. It was released on PS4 and Xbox One, though, which means thanks to backwards compatibility you can still play it on the latest consoles.

But should you play it? Upon its release, critics weren’t all that impressed by it. For a game developed by PlatinumGames, it’s a bit repetitive and not the most exciting. the worst thing about it, though, is that there’s no local co-op; if you want to play it with friends, they’ll also need a copy of the game so you can team up online. Still, if you’re a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, there’s some fun to be had here. We particularly like that each turtle has their own unique abilities, and that you can upgrade them over time.

3. Injustice 2 – Legendary Edition

TMNT (1)

  • Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Okay, so Injustice 2 isn’t a game focussed on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can play as them in the game, though, so that’s why it makes it onto our list of the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games you can play right now.

Added to the game via post-launch DLC, the best way to play as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Injustice 2 is to buy the Legendary Edition of the game, which can be picked up pretty cheap new. You’ll find that each one of the turtles isn’t selectable separately, though. Instead, you can change which turtle you take control of by changing the weapon that’s equipped to them. Even better, this changes some of their moves, too.

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles_The Cowabunga Collection

  • Available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC

For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, The Cowabunga Collection might sound like a dream come true. A huge collection of games based on the heroes in a half shell available at a bargain price? What’s not to love?

Well, the truth is, many of the games included just aren’t all that much fun to play anymore. Some weren’t even fun to play when they were originally released. There are some gems here that make it worth it, though. Arcade classics such as Turtles in Time are still brilliant, for example, and there are some other curios here that are worth digging into. Overall, then, The Cowabunga Collection focuses on quantity rather than quality. Thanks to the inclusion of a wide range of digital Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles memorabilia, however, this is still very much worth picking up.
