Baldur’s Gate 3’s Player Statistics Are Here and Astarion is a Real Heart-Breaker

Baldur's Gate 3 Astarion

Larian Studios has revealed just what Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been getting up to since the game’s release.

No, don’t worry, they’re not about to start blackmailing you. We’re talking about Baldur’s Gate 3’s statistics here. The game (currently out on PC) has been extremely well received and we’re still having a blast with it. We’ve just discovered the Dark Urge origin so things could get a little nasty.

On a cheerier note, according to Larian Studios’ latest community update, players to tend to lean towards the side of good. Early on in this fantasy RPG, there’s a moment where you get to defend or attack a druid grove. According to the stats, over 60% of players went with former option.

Sure, they lost out on the chance to fight alongside giant spiders but there’s no accounting to taste. The update also reveals that Astarion, the game’s definitely-not-a-vampire companion, rejected over 100,000 players. Presumably they weren’t to his taste.

Other stats shared include:

  • 10% of characters spend at least an hour in character creation
  • 12% of player deaths were down to friendly fire
  • 93% of players rolled a custom character
  • Paladin was the most popular class
  • Half elf was the most popular race, followed by elf and human
  • 386 players finished the game in the opening weekend

That last number is pretty small, compared to the 815,000 concurrent players that the game had at one point. And you know what? That’s as it should be. If you finished game in its opening weekend you were either press, or you were rushing it and missing out on most of what the game has to offer.

You can check out the rest of these Baldur’s Gate 3 statistics here and if, mind-boggling as it may seem, you’re done with the game, here are some more games like Baldur’s Gate 3.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
